English for Life: A skill to make life more meaningful.

As an English school with branches world wide, not only does Shane manage English schools, but over the last 30 years, he has been actively involved in teacher recruitment, training, managing pre-schools in China, and publishing.

Shane once said "I came to Japan 32 years ago and at that time, American English was very popular among Japanese English conversation schools. A friend of mine said to me that I should have spoken American English instead if I wanted to be an English teacher in Japan. But I believe that British English can also become very popular and tailored for Japanese learners. I then decided to open my first school in Funabashi and the response was great with over a hundred students signing-up. At that point, I decided to recruit qualified teachers to help me run the school."

The first Recruitment Head Office opened and was based in London, but the business has now expanded to a world wide level.

Shane's philosophy was to make learning English fun and over the years he has adopted a monthly tuition system which students have been very happy with since it allows them both flexibility and freedom.

Another important aspect is the quality of lessons that are taught. There are many different teacher training opportunities and promotion prospects within the company for teachers. We feel that If teachers are not happy with their current conditions, their lessons will not be of high quality.

A final word from Shane to all English learners out there: "If you put your heart into learning English, you can do it. Learning English is a long process, but it will be a skill which plays a significant part of in our lives."
